Safety first: Karpool’s car experience is for use only while the vehicle is safely parked. Never interact with the game while driving.
1. Who provides Karpool
These terms are between you and APLAUSO QUANTUM - TECNOLOGIAS, UNIPESSOAL, LDA, based in Portugal (“we”, “us”), with its registered office at Rua Ferreira de Castro 11, 2605-761 Casal de Cambra, Portugal. They cover the Karpool game, Karpool Companion, and karpool.fun. You can reach us at support@oikostech.io.
2. Using the apps
You may use the apps for personal, lawful entertainment in accordance with these terms, applicable store terms, vehicle and device instructions, and open-source notices included with the software. If you download Karpool Companion from Apple’s App Store, Apple’s standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies; Apple is not responsible for the app or its support.
- Use the car-screen experience only while safely parked.
- Obey road laws, vehicle warnings, and any system restriction. A technical pause or restriction is not a substitute for responsible behavior.
- Do not attempt to bypass parked-only controls or distract a driver.
- Do not interfere with other users, networks, devices, or the service.
- Do not use join codes you were not invited to use.
3. Companion and local networks
Karpool Companion is not a standalone karaoke game. It requires a compatible Karpool game and local network connection. Local multiplayer currently uses unencrypted HTTP and UDP traffic protected by short-lived session secrets. Use a network you trust and share the join code only with intended players.
4. Songs and content
You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use songs, images, lyrics, and other content you add. Karpool’s ability to read a file does not grant a copyright license. Do not distribute content through Karpool unless you have permission.
Any included or downloadable songs remain subject to their stated licenses. See Licenses & Credits. Availability of specific songs or downloads is not guaranteed.
5. Permissions and optional features
Core features may ask for microphone, camera, or local-network access. You can deny or withdraw permissions in system settings, but related features may stop working. Optional mods can change behavior and are your choice to enable.
6. No accounts or purchases yet
The current apps do not provide Karpool accounts, advertising, or in-app purchases. If that changes, these terms and the Privacy Policy will be updated before the feature is released.
7. Software availability and changes
The apps may change, gain or lose features, or stop supporting a device or platform. We may suspend a feature where necessary for safety, legal compliance, security, or maintenance. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free availability.
8. Open-source software
Karpool is based on UltraStar Play under the MIT License and includes third-party components under their own licenses. Those license terms govern the relevant code and assets. Nothing in these terms reduces rights granted by an applicable open-source license.
9. Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, the apps and website are provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. Pitch scoring is an entertainment feature, not a professional assessment. Compatibility can vary by phone, vehicle, head unit, microphone, and network. If you are a consumer, nothing in these terms limits the statutory rights you have under applicable consumer law, including rights regarding the conformity of digital content and services.
10. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, including liability for intent (dolo) or gross negligence, or for death or personal injury caused by our fault. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive loss, or for loss caused by unsafe use, third-party content, local network conditions, device incompatibility, or bypassing safety restrictions.
11. Ending use
You may stop using the apps at any time and uninstall them. We may restrict access to a future online service if necessary to address unlawful or harmful use. Local app data can be removed as described on the Data deletion page.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal, without taking away mandatory consumer protections or rights you have under the laws of your country of residence.
If you are a consumer, you may also use an alternative dispute resolution entity: CNIACC – Centro Nacional de Informação e Arbitragem de Conflitos de Consumo (www.cniacc.pt). More information is available at the Portal do Consumidor, www.consumidor.gov.pt.
13. Changes and contact
We may update these terms. The effective date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be published here before or with the relevant app update.
